PHILANTHROPIC GUIDELINES

Ford Motor Company Fund (Ford Fund) is a not-for-profit corporation organized in 1949. Made possible by Ford Motor Company profits, Ford Motor Company Fund supports initiatives and institutions that enhance and improve opportunities for those who live in the communities where Ford Motor Company operates.

Ford Fund evaluates grants on an annual basis. We reserve the right to cease support if the goals and objectives under which the grant was made have been changed by the grantee; if the grantee no longer meets its goals and objectives; and/or if its goals and objectives have become inconsistent with the vision, mission and values of Ford Motor Company Fund.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not support organizations that unlawfully discriminate in their provision of goods and services based on race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, ethnicity, sexual orientation, national origin, physical challenge, age, or status as a protected veteran.


WHAT WE DO SUPPORT

Ford Motor Company Fund (Ford Fund) supports not-for-profit organizations in three major areas: Education, Auto-Related Safety Education and Community Development.

We recognize there are many organizations worthy of support. Unfortunately, budget and policy limitations prevent us from supporting all requests.


WHAT WE DO NOT SUPPORT

Ford Fund does not support:

  • Advocacy-directed programs
  • Animal-rights organizations
  • Beauty or talent contests
  • General operating support
  • Debt reduction
  • Donation of vehicles
  • Efforts to influence legislation, or the outcome of any elections or any specific election of candidates to public office or to carry on any voter registration drive
  • Endowments
  • Fraternal organizations
  • General operating support to hospitals and health care institutions
  • Individual sponsorship related to fundraising activities
  • Individuals
  • Labor groups
  • Loans for small businesses
  • Loans to program-related investments
  • Organizations that do not have 501(c)(3) status
  • Political contributions
  • Private K-12 schools
  • Profit-making enterprises
  • Religious programs or sectarian programs for religious purposes
  • Species-specific organizations
  • Sports teams

1. How do I know if my organization and project is eligible to receive a grant from Ford Motor Company or Ford Motor Company Fund?
You will be required to take an eligibility quiz when you enter the online application site.

2. Who may apply for a grant?
Ford Motor Company’s charitable giving programs provide grants to eligible organizations through targeted initiatives focused primarily on Education, Auto-Related Safety Education and Community Development.

3. Where do I forward my proposal?
We do not accept paper proposals; you must apply online.

4. Do I have to complete the entire application in one online session?
No. You may complete a portion of the application, save your information and return to the web site at a later time to finish and submit the application.

5. How do I access an incomplete application that I saved, but have not yet submitted?
Browse to www.community.ford.com, click on Apply For Funding and then Community Grants Program link. Once there you will log into the system with your ID and Password, and click on the incomplete application to finish your request.

6. When will I be contacted about the status of my proposal?
Our staff will review your request for support and notify you as to its status within approximately 8 weeks of the submission date.

7. When do you accept proposals?
Requests for support are accepted and reviewed throughout the year.

8. If I want to mail a copy of my request for review, to whom do I address it?
We do not accept paper proposals; you must apply online.

9. How long does it take to review a proposal?
Our staff will review your request for support and notify you as to its status within approximately 8 weeks of the submission date.

10. Can one organization receive multiple grants?
Yes. Please submit one application for each grant request.

11. Do you make grants to individuals?
No, Ford Motor Company’s charitable giving programs DO NOT SUPPORT individuals.

13. If my organization’s 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity status is pending, does my organization qualify to receive a grant?
No, your organization must have an approved status.

14. What types of IRS designations does Ford Motor Company Fund consider eligible for funding?
Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3), tax-exempt public charities and governmental entities.

15. Do you support organizations outside the U.S.?Ford Motor Company Fund only supports U.S.-based 501(c)(3) organizations.
