About OMRON Foundation, Inc.
Founded in 1989, the OMRON Foundation, Inc. (OFI) was established to coordinate the charitable efforts of all OMRON offices in the US to achieve the greatest positive social impact. The Omron Foundation is a not-for-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is funded by OMRON’s subsidiaries in North America, who contribute a portion of their sales. The Foundation divides its charitable resources to benefit the following focus areas:
Funding Description
- Only organizations with a 501(c)(3) tax exempt status are considered for funding
- Generally, the Foundation prefers to fund specific programs, rather than general operating requests
- Funding awards can range from $250 to $100,000 or higher
- Funding is typically approved for one year only
- OFI prefers organizations local to our communities
- Preference is typically given to qualifying organizations where our employees volunteer
Funding Exclusions
The Foundation generally will NOT consider requests from:
- Organizations which do not have an IRS 501(c)(3) public charity or equivalent status
- Political organizations or parties, candidates or lobbying activities
- Labor unions or organizations
- Fraternal organizations
- Local athletic or sports programs
- Veteran’s organizations that have a limited membership
- Individuals
- Religious organizations (other than organizations whose exclusive mission is an approved non-discriminatory purpose such as education, health, cultural, civic, etc.)
- Organizations not operating for the benefit of the general public
The Omron Foundation will NOT typically awards gifts for the following:
- Travel funds for tours, expeditions, or trips by individuals or groups
- Dues or gifts to national or local alumni groups or clubs or fraternities
- Institutional memberships or subscription fees for publications
- Donations for benefit events, raffle tickets or fundraising efforts that involve value returned to the donor
- Gifts to individual churches, synagogues or other similar groups
Notes:
- Preference will be given to applicants that adhere to the BBB Wise Give Alliance’s “Standards for Charity Accountability”
- Guidelines may be waived or modified in certain limited circumstances by the advisory board
Funding Request Application Process
Application Form
Unless invited by the Omron Foundation Advisory Board to submit a full grant proposal, all applicants must first submit the attached application form including the following:
- Organizations Contact Information, purpose, and amount requested
- Briefly and clearly describe the request and how it fits with the purpose of the Omron Foundation
- Detail the use of funds and estimate total program cost, presenting a clear designation of the use of funds
- Explain program outcomes and potential long-term impact of the program
- Identify the people and communities that will benefit from this program
- Name any collaborative partners and/or Omron employees involved with the program
- Describe any recognition associated with grants to the program
- The form must be accompanied by the requesting organization’s 501(c)(3) IRS determination letter
Grant Proposal
Applicants must be invited by the Foundation Board to send a full proposal. If invited, please include:
Cover Letter (one page)
Provide a brief description of organization; clear description regarding the use of funds; requested amount and how grant funds will be used within program; contact name, phone number; mailing and e-mail addresses.
Narrative (no more than three pages)
- History and mission of the organization
- Annual report
- Current list of officers and board members
- Financial information, prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, containing: total income from the past fiscal year, fund raising and administrative expenses as well as direct program expenditures; and ending net assets
- Population(s) served by the organization and the proposed program
- Description of proposed program and its goals and objectives
- Collaborative opportunities with other community-based organizations
- Achievements and activities of the organization in the past year
- Evaluation plan for proposed program
Proposal Attachments
- Program budget detail (show other sources of funding and the amount requested from the Foundation)
- Any past funding from OFI for the past five years
- Overall organization budget detail
- Provide an annual report which includes the applicant’s mission statement and a summary of the past year’s program accomplishments
- Most recent audited financial statement
- Any other relevant supporting materials

Applications and full proposals will only be accepted via e-mail at [email protected].
Application Timing
Applications will be considered throughout the year. If invited to submit a full proposal for consideration, the applicant will be notified and may then submit a full proposal.

Post Donation Reporting
OFI requests a simple text and graphics report, electronically where possible, including photographs, video, information, statistics or other information, detailing an applicant organization’s use of the OFI donation and its resulting impact on those who have been helped. This information may be used in internal and external OFI related news, websites, or publications.
