Description: The Avantor Foundation works to advance science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education and learning, with the goal of increasing the number of students, especially women and minorities, pursing science and technology degrees. The foundation funds community-based organizations that teach science and technology to underserved high school students, and supports science labs in underserved schools, community colleges, and smaller universities by providing equipment or talent.
Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. The foundation does not accept unsolicited grant requests but invites qualified nonprofits to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI), with information to provide outlined on the website. Required are background on the organization and the purpose, objectives, and a brief description of the proposed project or program. Also required are explanations of how the project or program fits with the foundation’s focus and mission, total project or program costs, and amount requested from the foundation. Letters must be no more than two pages; longer letters are not considered. LOIs must be submitted by email. Based on the LOI, organizations may be invited to apply.
