Amount: $2,500 Deadline: 12-17-18 DuPont Pioneer Excellence in Agricultural Science Education Award Sponsored by DuPont PROGRAM
SUMMARY: A partnership with DuPont Pioneer and the National Science Teachers Association, this award is to recognize excellence and innovation in the field of agricultural science education. Two awards, in the kindergarten through high school level, will be awarded annually. Each awardee will receive a $2500 grant for their classroom/program, and $1000 paid travel expenses to attend the NSTA national conference on science education, mentoring with a DuPont Pioneer scientist, classroom resources from DuPont Pioneer, and access to a DuPont Pioneer product plant or research facility. The awardees will be presented the award at the Teacher Awards Banquet at the National Conference.
ELIGIBILITY: This award is open to any k-12 science teacher who incorporates innovative agricultural science activities into their existing science curriculum.
CRITERIA FOR JUDGING: The demonstrated incorporation of hands-on agricultural science activities into the classroom, which include: ★ Effective planning skills which includes goals and objectives ★ Demonstrated impact and engagement of students ★ Opportunities for students to attain science standards ★ Description of how the award would be used to further their agricultural science program
AWARD SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS: ★ A video up to twenty minutes (does not have to be continuous), with the teacher and students participating in an agricultural science activity. (YouTube link) ★ A character equivalent two-page description of the activity with objectives, connections to standards and assessment, and a description of how the award would be used to further their program. ★ A character equivalent one page CV describing teaching experience, professional development, professional activities and awards. ★ Three letters of recommendation, up to two pages each, must accompany the application. ★ All attachments must be in pdf format. Upon receipt, all applications become the property of NSTA. Applications will not be returned. Late or faxed applications will not be accepted.
