Description:       The National Science Foundation (NSF) invites proposals to create evidence-based and inclusive postbaccalaureate mentoring programs for cohorts of recent college graduates who have had limited undergraduate research or training opportunities in the biological sciences. Expectations are to establish regional or national networks around a compelling scientific theme with research, training, professional development, and career pathways into graduate programs or competitive jobs in the biological sciences. Priority participants are members of groups underrepresented in the biological sciences, including Blacks and African Americans, Hispanics, Latinos, Native Americans, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and other Native Pacific Islanders; persons with disabilities; veterans of the US Armed Services; and first-generation college students.

Eligible applicants are US two- and four-year accredited institutions of higher education, including community colleges; and nonprofit, nonacademic organizations such as independent museums, observatories, research laboratories, professional societies, and similar organizations in the United States associated with educational or research activities. Proposals from or that fully engage Minority-Serving Institutions and Primarily Undergraduate Institutions are encouraged. These include Alaska Native-serving institutions, Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-serving institutions, Hispanic-serving institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Native Hawaiian-serving institutions, Native American-serving nontribal institutions, Predominantly Black Institutions, and Tribal colleges and universities. There are expectations to collaborate with a variety of institutions of higher education; industry, federal, and state agencies; and research and teaching centers. Applicants are encouraged to leverage established NSF or other broadening participation programs to facilitate program activities. Cost sharing and matching funds are not required. Applications must be submitted online.
