Description: The Enhancing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Educational Diversity (ESTEEMED) Research Education Experiences program supports undergraduate educational activities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The overarching goal is to prepare students for PhD or MD/PhD programs, targeting underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, individuals with disabilities, and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. Proposals must contain three of the following elements:
• Summer bridge program to prepare participants for the first year of college or university and provide remedial instruction with an emphasis on basic sciences, computation, and science communication.
• Academic year activities to prepare freshman and sophomore participants for summer research experiences and eventual entry into an advanced honors program.
• Hands-on summer research experiences.
• Mentoring.
• Honors Program.
